Large Steam Boilers

RCR Energy Systems provides watertube steam boilers, generating saturated and superheated steam at high pressure for power and process applications. Large steam requirements and most solid fuel applications necessitate site-erected plant, typically from our Babcock & Wilcox range.

Babcock & Wilcox Stirling Power Boiler (SPB)

Stirling® power boilers are typically found in large industrial operations requiring steam and power generation fired primarily on coal, biomass or other solid fuels.

A key feature of the Stirling design is its flexibility to incorporate various combustion and stoker designs, including:

  • Stokers – reciprocating, vibrating grate, travelling grate
  • Burners for oil, gases, BFG, COG and pulverized coal
  • Bubbling fluidized bed and circulating fluidized bed

The versatility of the Towerpak steam boiler to burn virtually any fuel, alone or in combination, is especially useful for industrial applications.

Towerpak boilers are bottom supported, with either one or two drum steam boilers depending upon design pressure and customer requirements. Maximum modularization of the boiler is a key design feature. A fully shop-assembled furnace is possible for smaller sizes. Larger units are designed for maximum shop assembly and modularization for ease of field erection.

B&W's Towerpak design offers exclusive advantages which maximise performance and allow optimised shipping, erection and operating costs.

thumb-BW-Fluid-Bed.jpgBabcock & Wilcox Fluid Bed – Bubbling & Circulating

Fluidized bed technology offers reduced NOx and SO2 emissions by allowing the control of bed temperature and using reagents such as limestone as bed material. Additional benefits include the ability to use fuels which are difficult to burn in conventional boiler systems.
